Events througout 2010

The 2010 Calendar is filling up and here are a few dates for your diaries, we will try and get along to as many of the events as we can, but with so many its going to be a case of picking and choosing. This is not the final calendar, there is word of another event, more on that later when dates have been confirmed. See you on the water.

Ocean Kayak Prowler Ultra 4.7

The Prowler Ultra 4.7 has already been launched in New Zealand. Ocean Kayak have been hard at developing some older features and bringing in new ideas with the Prowler Ultra 4.7, its met with some rave reviews in New Zealand and there are a few people lining up to be the first to paddle it here in the UK, as I write this there are only three in the UK, all are being kept under wraps until the official UK launch at the Boat and Caravan Show, NEC Birmingham, starting on Feb 23rd running till Sunday 28th.

The pictures above show the new rotating cover for the Rod Pod, another new features is a hand pumped live well behind the cockpit and flush mount rod holders on the gunwales, something that I have been asking for on the Ocean Kayak models for years.

Bic launch the YAKKAir Lite

The YAKKAir Lite is the latest version of Bic's successful YAKKAir inflatable kayaks Developed directly from the successful YAKKAir HP, the YAKKAir Lite is aimed specifically at coastal paddling close to the beach, for rivers and for other inland waters. Suitable for all skill levels, stable, strong and lightweight, the YAKKAir Lite is the ideal way to get out on the water on your holidays.

As far as construction is concerned, the same multi-material format as used on the YAKKAir HP has been adopted. It incorporates Polyurethane bladders encased in Dacron sleeves, and a multi-tube bottom with a coated fabric outer skin which ensures durability and performance. The rigid stiffeners at the front and rear tips help to pre-form the hull, sharpening the cutting edge and further improving the already excellent glide.

The new YAKKAir Lite is stable, fast, lightweight and comfortable and comes with a seat/backrest, safety grab lines, abrasion protector, bow protector, carry handles, stowing mesh front & rear for accessories, paddle attachment, carry bag, pump and repair kit, all as standard.

It is available as a one man or two man, and is easily folded down into a carry bag, making it simple to carry on foot or popped in the boot of your car. Getting started is just as easy and it is fully inflated for use in minutes using the high pressure pump that comes with it.

Easysearch.org.uk

During 2008 our forum members began fund raising for various charities, our main charity being the RNLI. For 2009 we have joined the Easysearch.org.uk scheme, and have added their search button to our Menu Bar. For each search using this button funds are added to our charity pot.

As well as Easysearch.org.uk there is work going on in the background to help a variety of charities throughout 2009.

All of the monies received will be redirected to our chosen charities and not used to fund AnglersAfloat in any way.

At last a list of the most popular rod holders, mounts and rod leashes, we know that there are a few others to add to the list such as Fladens offering, but as yet we have not been able to get a photo or specific details, we will update as those details become available.
